I just realised this morning that Paul McCartney's Mull of Kintyre and The Frog Song are basically the same song.

In the Quantum Physics World of Mince where surely time isn’t an issue, you’ve only realised this now!

Poppycock! The tunes are distinctly different, and none of the words are the same...except "in", "the" and "we".
I hardly think that's sufficient evidence for Sir Paul to take out a plagiarism lawsuit against himself. I rest my case.

I didn't enjoy that.

There is no doubt that McCartney was a brilliant songwriter and hugely influential. The two songs you mention have similarities but that's about it. It's probable that neither will be listed among his greatest works although I've always felt the criticism of them is unfair. They were MEANT to be simplistic. In the case of Mull of Kintyre, he wanted to use bagpipes but was limited by the restricted range of that instrument. Anyway, I'm sure Sir Paul doesn't need me to defend him. I hear he's made a few bob from his songwriting.

A timeless classic (yes, I really did buy this back in the day...I'm serious...even if he Sir Paul wasn't). Love it...
